STUDENTS’ STRATEGIES DEALING WITH SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

This journal aims at investigating the strategies in dealing with SLA implemented by students from different English acquisition background in their respective learning context. In this study, seven participants were selected based on their English acquisition background. The investigation is based on a case study supported by the qualitative method. The analysis and interpretation through thematic and reflexive analysis showed that there are eight strategies implemented by students in dealing with SLA. Those strategies implemented are padding, inferencing, translating, key word, imitating language model, cooperating and questioning. This study also reported how important students’ linguistic background in achieving second language proficiency.
